Approaching Toledo

Toledo and Consuegra

Just a few photographs taken on a day long tour to Toledo and Consuegra. The tour was run by Take Walks, with whom we have had the pleasure of touring a number of times. Starting out in Madrid we travelled firstly to Toledo, where we arrived just as the morning mist evaporated from around the town, heralding a beautiful sunny day.

We enjoyed the company of our guide Abel, who led on us on a most interesting tour of Toledo, including a visit to a sword maker; the Palacio de Fuensalida; the magnificent Santa Iglesia Catedral Primada de Toledo; as well as many other churches and monuments.

After a pleasant lunch in Toledo, we headed off to Consuegra to see Don Quixote’s “Giants” – the windmills. These were very much a highlight for us, we visited the one remaining windmill that was still able to work, and another where we enjoyed a tasting of cheese and wines.
